Ecospheric Medicine
Edwin James International has been positioned on the cusp of the bedrock principles of Ecospheric Medicine since our inception, in 2007. In fact, we have defined the very essence of the approaches that shall guide us to a way of living that is of mutual benefit to mankind and the ecosphere.
Residential Minimalism
Edwin James International has developed and implemented a range of alternative residential lifestyle systems that vastly simply our indoor spaces while expanding our interactions with the natural world.
Embracing Aparigraha
Aparigraha is the rejection of materialism. It is achieved via the dispossession of material goods and modernist ideologies centered upon the accumulation of wealth as the central feature of humanity.
Debt Free Existence
Edwin James International has developed strategies enabling anyone to live free of debt, and to live freely by minimizing the need for money. True freedom and liberty are attained when money is not a factor.
Community Engagement
The paradigm of Ecospheric Medicine does not exist in a vacuum. Community engagement is an essential component of our alternative living systems. Our interactions with our communities define us.
The Alice Center for Alternative Living (ACAL)

The ACAL is an alternative communal living program under development in a rural setting near Show Low, Arizona. Edwin James International purchased property here in 2020, and has since untaken the task of developing a small residential community in sync with EJI's essential tenets of Ecospheric Medicine.

The ACAL facility has incorporated minimalist design strategies for shelter and diet. We are in process of erecting tiny homes with alternative infrastructure regarding water, septic, power, heating and cooling. Our minimalist designs interface directly with nature, encouraging an active and engaging lifestyle connected to nature.

The dietary needs of our residents are met via the harvest of wild plants occurring regionally, rearing of domestic fowl, and a hydroponics facility currently under construction.
The Alternative Portlandia Prospectus (APP)

The APP is a draft document currently under revision for an alternative communal living program within the Portland, Oregon metroplex. Edwin James International and its partners are working to adapt the essential principles of Ecospheric Medicine within the context of a major urban center. We are optimistic going forward.

​
Unique challenges exist within the context of implementing an alternative community of this nature within an incorporated jurisdiction. While many hurdles remain before the APP can become a reality in Portland, EJI is of the belief that the city, its people and its elected leaders shall collaborate with EJI in making this project a reality.

Once EJI has fully implemented the concepts of Ecospheric Medicine within rural and urban corridors, we shall duplicate these prototype communities with the hope of altering the way we live, one community at a time!
